Two non-political groups in Ondo state have pledged their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship election in the state.
The groups, the Ondo state chapter of the National Butcher’s Union of Nigeria and Ifesowapo Elders/Youth forum, made the declarations at separate courtesy visits to the Governor in Akure on Thursday.
Speaking on behalf of the National Butcher’s Union, the state chairman, Sikirulai Ayinde, pledged the Union’s unreserved support for the APC, saying “we were APC yesterday, we are, today and tomorrow”
He said they are a united front willing to contribute their quota towards the development of Ondo state.
Similarly, the Ifesowapo Elders/Youth forum, led by High Chief Sarajudeen Otuyiga, said they believe in the developmental plans of Governor Aiyedatiwa for the state and would like him to continue for the next four years.
High Chief Otuyiga urged the government to pay more attention to rural roads in Ore kingdom, which is the base of their members.
Reacting to the National Butcher’s Union, the governor, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, tasked them on massive local breeding of cows to support the government’s drive for food security.
He thanked them and the Ifesowapo Elders/Youth forum for their support, promising to continue to prioritize the welfare of the people of the state.
