Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the four local government areas in Akoko in the northern senatorial district of Ondo state, on Wednesday, converged in Ikare Akoko to interact with the state deputy governor, Dr Olayide Adelami.
The APC leaders, who came in numbers, took turn to speak on burning issues of governance and politics, ranging from youth empowerment to political representation.
“I will table all these requests before my principal” the deputy governor assured the cheerful audience as he described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a “listening leader”
However, Adelami, having noted tens of issues raised, provided answers to the ones that needed clarity.
He said “On the issue of security, Mr Governor has raised the bar. He recently donated 25 vehicles to security agencies in the state, in addition to all other incentives to ensure all residents can sleep with their eyes closed”
The deputy governor charged the leaders to go back to their respective units and mobilize more support for the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami ticket, which he described as a “divine ticket”
According to him, “Not all party members will be appointed but I can assure that you will not be forgotten. We will emplace policies that will positively affect all residents of the state, regardless of political affiliations”
In his opening remarks, chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, said the gathering was at the instance of the deputy governor, who deemed it thoughtful to bring together all APC leaders in Akoko under one roof.
Olabimtan disclosed that one of the main objectives is to energize party faithful ahead of the November 16 governorship election in the state.
An APC chieftain, Mrs Grace Animola, appreciated the deputy governor for the meeting and also thanked the governor for the approval of many appointments into the new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
