AIYEDATIWA TO PARTNER HUMANITARIAN GROUPS IN PROVIDING INFRASTRUCTURE

Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to give the needed support to the Rotary Club and every other organisation that wants to partner the government in providing basic amenities for residents of the state.

The governor made this statement while receiving members of the Rotary Club of Nigeria, District 9126, in his office in Akure on Wednesday.

Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor said, “Rotary club is an unrepentant philanthropic organisation, and we appreciate all they have done, and will still do, in Ondo state.

“Your organisation has been a viable partner over the years, and we look forward, as a government, to more endurable and fruitful years of partnership.

“We shall give the needed support, particularly the provision of land for you to erect infrastructures for members of the public, to your organisation and others like you, to make your work easier.

“We all know government can not do everything, which is why we must give progressive and service-oriented organisations like the Rotary Club our backing in making your work easy.”

Leader of the delegation and District Governor, District 9126, of the Rotary Club of Nigeria, Kayode Olowalagba, earlier said the club is dedicated to making lives easy for the masses by complementing government in the provision of basic amenities in communities where they are mostly needed.

“Our organisation has spent over N9B on polio eradication in Nigeria, and that is just one of the things we are doing.

“IN Ondo state, we have donated facilities like two boreholes at the Neuropsychiatric hospital in Akure, provision of chairs for women attending antenatal care at the UNIMEDTH, Akure Centre, among others.

“We recently constructed a school at Imafon community for residents of that area to have easy access to secondary school education, and one of our clubs in Akure is working on equipping the school laboratory.”

Olowalagba called on the state government to partner the club in equipping the school with furniture and other things needed to make it functional, a request the governor said will be considered.
