10TH NASS: DON’T MISPLACE PEOPLE’S CONFIDENCE IN YOU —Ondo NUJ Congratulates 3 Senators, 9 Reps
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ondo State council, has congratulated the 12 federal lawmakers from the State who were recently inaugurated as part of the 10th National Assembly, charging them to justify the confidence the people of the Sunshine State reposed in them.
In a Press Statement signed by the State Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite and the Secretary, Comrade Olaoluwa Meshack, Ondo NUJ described as heartwarming and inspiring, the elections and subsequent swearing-in of the three Senators and nine House of Representatives members from the state.
The Union felicitates Senators Jide Ipinsagba, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Jimoh Ibrahim, as well as the nine House of Representatives members; Hon Donald Ojogo, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Hon Gboyega Adefarati, Hon Derin Adesida and Hon Festus Akingbaso.
Others are; Hon Abiola Makinde, Hon Festus Adefiranye, Prince Jimi Odimayo and Hon Timilehin Adelegbe.
Ondo NUJ specifically expressed confidence in the ability of Hon Ojogo to give the people of Ilaje/Ese-odo federal constituency quality representation considering his successful and unblemished journalism career, as well as his sterling performance as the immediate past Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation.
“Ondo State journalists are equally happy with the elections and the subsequent inauguration of three of them who are recipients of Ondo NUJ Prestigious Merit Awards in 2021. They are; Hon Tunji-Ojo ‘BTO’ from Akoko Northeast/Northwest federal constituency; Hon Makinde from Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency, and the only PDP federal lawmaker from our State, Hon Akingbaso ‘Fessywest’ representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency.
“The three of you have all justified the NUJ honours bestowed on you two years ago, and the justification, which made your constituents to massively renew your mandates during this year’s general elections.”
While wishing them a fruitful tenure, Ondo NUJ charges the 12 federal lawmakers to count themselves lucky to represent over four million people of the Sunshine State at the National level, hence the need for them not to disappoint their constituents.
The statement also urges the parliamentarians to work diligently and harmoniously to facilitate Federal government projects to Ondo State while ensuring good representation in the enactment of impactful laws that will be beneficial to their constituents.
The Pen profession Union challenges the new federal lawmakers to mount pressure on relevant Federal Government Ministries and Agencies to ensure timely execution of Ondo Deep Sea Port project and the reconstruction/dualisation of Akure-Ado Ekiti road which were recently awarded and flagged off respectively.
