Indications emerged, Thursday, that Ondo State Governor , Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has arrived Nigeria.
A few hours after there were whispers in the Alagbaka Governor’s Office that Akeredolu landed in Abuja earlier in the day, the wife of the governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, on Thursday afternoon posted a picture of her husband on board an aircraft with the footnote, ‘Homebound’, on facebook, before some of Akeredolu’s aides started sharing the picture and a short video of the governor aboard the aircraft.
Another indication was the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Richard Olatunde, issuing a congratulatory message addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima, on their victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).
The statement was the first Richard would issue on behalf of the governor since he embarked on medical leave on June 13, 2023 having transmitted power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, through the state House of Assembly.
Akeredolu later applied for extension of his medical leave on July 10, 2023 after he was said to have travelled to Germany for medical attention and subsequently recuperating.
Though, there have been no official statements from the state government confirming or denying the arrival of the governor in the country, sources within the state cabinet confirmed there is a meeting scheduled for Friday at Akeredolu’s Ibadan residence.
A source who pleaded anonymity confirmed to TheReports that “it is he true he got back to the country today (Thursday) and will be meeting with some of us tomorrow (Friday).
“He will be resting in Ibadan till he writes to the House of Assembly to notify them of his return and subsequent resumption.
“I can confirm to you that he’s back and the Ibadan meeting is for him to briefed of all happenings while he was away.”
It was also observed that some members of the governor’s Press Crew and security details who have been away since the governor traveled were called back to duty and embarked on an emergency trip outside Ondo state.
