Adeleke Orders Investigation into Alleged Deportation of Osun Youths from Lagos

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has instructed an urgent probe into the reported deportation of Osun youths from Lagos State.

Amidst claims circulating on Saturday, alleging the deportation of Osun indigenes by the Lagos government, Governor Adeleke expressed dismay over the incident and disclosed the formation of an investigative team to liaise with the Lagos state authorities.

In a statement released on Monday by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, Adeleke revealed, “An investigation team, appointed by the Osun state government, corroborated the reports. Eyewitnesses confirmed the youths were transported in luxurious buses and dropped off at various locations along expressways.”

Detailing the locations, the statement noted, “The youths were reportedly disembarked at Ilesa-Akure express junction, Breweries; Ilesa – Ibodi – Iginla to Ife express junction, Osun Ankara express junction, Imelu express junction, and Iperindo express junction.”

Engaging in dialogue with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos, Adeleke shared, “I conversed with Governor Sanwo-Olu, who expressed disbelief and denied any authorization of such an action. He assured swift investigation by the Lagos team to ascertain the truth.”

Consequently, Adeleke directed Osun’s security agencies to intensify surveillance in and around Ilesa to locate the deported youths and monitor their whereabouts.

“I will keep the public informed,” he affirmed, urging calm among residents while security agencies conduct their surveillance.
