Ahmadiyya Muslim Youths Organisation (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Nigeria) have converged on Ondo state for its 49th annual convention holding at Imade College, in the ancient town of Owo.

The leader of the group, Mr Abdur-roqib Akinyemi while addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, said the annual convention is an opportunity for youths in the fold to strengthen the bond of brotherhood, increase in spirituality and spread the message of “LOVE FOR ALL, HATRED FOR NONE”.

Mr Akinyemi said Islam is a religion of peace and every misconceptions arising from individuals or groups portraying it in bad light must not be allowed to go uncorrected.

The Youth leader who mentioned that the theme of this year’s convention (Ijtema) is “Upholding the Institution of Khilafah through Activation of Nizam-e-Jama’at”, said it underscores the significance of “preserving and promoting the concept of Khilafah and the role of Nizam-e-Jama’at in the society”.

“Our members from different states across Nigeria will be part of this convention. We will also welcome our brothers from other African countries like Uganda, Benin Republic, Cote d’Ivoire among others.”

The programme commenced with a Free Health Outreach at the Ahmadiyya Grammar School, Owo on Wednesday, June 7th where residents of Owo town and it’s environs benefitted from medical check up, blood pressure measurement, blood sugar test, malaria test, drug dispensing and counseling at no cost.

On other activities during the convention, Mr Akinyemi noted that members will participate in sporting and educational events as well as public lectures.

“One of the major highlights of our annual convention is on Saturday when we move round the host Community, this time in Owo. We embark on procession through different streets spreading the message of peace that Islam really embodies.”

For the success of these activities, the Majilis Khudamm-ul- Ahmadiyya has received the support of security agencies with visits to the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State, Mr Olatundun Olayinka, the Ondo State Police Command, the FRSC and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye.
