FG HONOURS OWO-BORN MEDIA ADMINISTRATOR, ADETULA, 339 OTHERS

Owo-born frontline journalist and Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of Owena Press Ltd, publisher of The Hope Newspapers, Sir Ademola Adetula, has been listed among the 340 eminent Nigerians honoured by outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 Special National Honours Award.

Born to the Sashere Adetula family of Owo on August 6, 1952, Adetula, a quintessential media administrator and professional journalist, began his reportorial job with the Ilorin based Nigerian Herald in 1978 rising to major editorial posts in the industry.

The honours list, which included eminent judges, governors, traditional rulers, media administrators and legal practitioners, had Adetula in the category of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR.

Other journalists honoured include the Managing Director of The Nation Newspaper, Mr Victor Ifijeh, co-founder of TheNews Magazine and Special Adviser to the president on Political Matters, Mr Babafemi Ojudu, and another co-founder of TheNews Magazine and lately former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga.

Also on the honours list is Mr Dele Alake, a former Lagos State Commissioner of Information, the outgoing Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu and former Managing Director of Daily Times, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi.

Also prominent on the list are the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Osun State Governor and outgoing Internal Affairs Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, immediate past Osun State Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola, wife of the president-elect, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare and Abuja-based Legal Practitioner, Mr Kayode Ajulo.

A popular musician, David Adeleke and a cultural entrepreneur, Mr Kunle Afolayan were also honoured on the list.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, FMSDIGA, Ibiene Roberts, enjoined recipients to collect their certificates and medals on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the FMSDICA office in Abuja.
