In response to allegations of irregularities, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with its process filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Ondo State, in which Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was elected as the party’s gubernatorial candidate, substantially complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
This announcement serves as a vindication for Ondo State Attorney General and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, OON, who had previously stated that the direct primary was conducted in strict adherence to the Constitution, the Electoral Act, and the APC’s own constitution.
Dr. Ajulo has urged the general public to continue to have trust in the judicial process, as the INEC’s affirmation reinforces the legitimacy of the APC’s candidate selection in Ondo State.
