Cutting-Edge Surveillance System to Curb Cross-Border Crimes and Enhance National Safety
On May 23rd, 2024, Nigeria took a significant step towards strengthening its border security with the completion of the first phase of its e-border management solution. The project, which has reached approximately 60% completion, aims to revolutionize border surveillance with state-of-the-art technology.
During an inspection tour of the e-border management centre and the newly-built Command and Control Centre for electronic gates at international airports, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, announced the readiness of the Command and Control Centre for commissioning.
The e-border management solution is designed to tackle cross-border banditry, irregular migration, and other security challenges, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) vision of a secure border as a safe nation. This milestone marks a significant leap forward in Nigeria’s efforts to enhance national security and promote peace.
