A non-political youth-led organisation, the Owo Youth General Assembly (TOYGA), has commended the deputy governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olayide Adelami, for his commitment towards the development of Owo Local Government, in particular and Ondo state in general.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the deputy governor in Akure on Monday, the group’s president, Basiru Adebola, appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for appointing Adelami to join him in running the affairs of the state.
“We are indeed proud of your accomplishments and it is a privilege to be mentored by you. We thank the governor for appointing you as his deputy because you are a perfect fit and we are confident you will do well in the new assignment” Adebola said.
He further eulogized Adelami for the impact he has made in the lives of people in Owo and its environs.
According to him, “we aware of all that you have been doing for ages. The name ‘oko opo’, which means husband to widows, was coined out of your kindness and care for widows and orphans, not only in Owo but across the country. We are beneficiaries of your benevolence either as individuals or group. Rest assured, we will support this administration to ensure the governor succeeds”
Reacting, Adelami said the governor is youth-friendly and has a lot of programs to reduce youth unemployment in order to guarantee a better future for the state, saying the governor will need their cooperation for these programs to be successfully implemented.
“Mr Governor is interested in youth development programs and has gone ahead to design programs that will make this a reality. We are doing this because the youths are the ones that would take over from us and we must ensure their future is guaranteed” Adelami concluded.
