AT 89, GOWON REIFIES GOD’S GRACE — MIMIKO

Dr Olusegun Mimiko has sent his congratulatory message to former Head Of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) on his 89th birthday.

The former governor of Ondo state in a message said not many who have served the country selflessly have had the privilege of being blessed with long and productive life and excellent health, like the former military ruler and statesman.

“General Yakubu Gowon’s life, being a remarkable exemption shows God’s love, discernible internal and personal peace and unparalleled contentment,” Mimiko in a statement signed by John Paul Akinduro, his Media aide, said.

According to him, “Gowon is an outstanding African leader who continues to inspire successive generations of political leaders since leaving office as Nigeria’s military head of state in 1975.

“In both words and deed, he continues to play a key role in keeping Nigeria together as one virile nation. As governor, I had the privilege of having him grace our programs and was privileged to attend a few of his ‘Nigeria Prays’ program. I can tell that his love for the country is palpable. His desire is that Nigeria achieves greatness in no time.^”

Mimiko stressed that the former head of state reifies God’s grace to be hale and hearty to celebrate his 89th birthday.

“Through his way of life, many have learnt immeasurable lessons of selfless service, particularly of being self effacing, humble, soft spoken and deep thinking about Nigeria and her challenges. Many have learnt to be more concerned about creating policies and taking actions that affect millions of people who are at the margins of society,” Mimiko added.

“It is on this note that my family and I align with millions of Nigerians across tribe and tongues to wish the great gentleman soldier and elder statesman an amazing birthday” the former governor said.
