FAKE JOURNALIST TAG: ONDO NUJ DEMANDS PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM ZLGA, AFFIRMS ADENIYAN’S PROFESSIONALISM

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council, has demanded a public apology from one waste management company in the state, ZL Global Alliance, for its defamatory post about a senior member of the union, Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Adeniyan, a former State Secretary of the pen-pushers union and Publisher, Trace News Magazine, was tagged a “fake journalist” by ZLGA after he wrote an exposè on the unprecedented level of dirtiness of Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The union, in a statement signed by its State Secretary, Olaoluwa Meshack, frowned at the derogatory use of words by ZLGA, demanding for a public apology to the union and Ebenezer and Adeniyan.

The full text of the statement is reproduced below:

EBENEZER ADENIYAN IS A SENIOR JOURNALIST & PUBLISHER OF TRACE NEWS MAGAZINE: ONDO NUJ DEMANDS APOLOGY OVER SOCIAL MEDIA ‘FAKE JOURNALIST POST’

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council wishes to place on record that one of our Senior members, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, is a qualified and well-experienced Senior Journalist and not a FAKE JOURNALIST.

We hereby give a waste management company, ZLGA, 24hours ultimatum to pull down the social media post “FAKE JOURNALIST” against Prince Adeniyan who had served as the State Secretary & National Ex-officio of our union before now.

We want to caution public or private offices in the state against any form of attacks/blackmail against journalists in the course of doing their professional jobs.

The waste management company’s post on Ebenezer Adeniyan is unacceptable and condemnable, just as we are demanding public apology from the company.

Solidarity Forever!!!

E-Signed:
Olaoluwa Meshack
State Secretary.
