Sleepy Kidnappers Nabbed: Authorities Apprehend Abductors Who Dozed Off During Operation in Ondo

Five kidnappers who allegedly slept off after abducting the wife of a pastor and two others, in the Ofosu area of Ondo, have been arrested.

Odunlami Ibukun, spokesperson of the Ondo police command, confirmed the arrest to press men on Monday.

According to Ibukun, the hostages said they were able to escape when the kidnappers slept off after taking hard drugs.

“The victims did not escape at the same time,” the spokesperson said.

“They escaped at different times and they said it was after the suspects slept off.”

The pastor’s wife and the second victim were kidnapped in the church, while the third victim was said to have been kidnapped while picking snails on the farm.

The kidnappers were identified as Garuba Mumuni, 27; Yusuf Tale, 21; Kabiru Muhammed, 16; Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed.

Ibukun added that the kidnappers fled the state after the operation last month but were later arrested by the police after a victim identified one of the gang members.

Abayomi Oladipo, state police commissioner, said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
